What Happens After You Submit an RFP (Pending Status Explained)

What Pending status means, what's happening behind the scenes, and when to expect your RFP to go live.

Updated today

When you submit an RFP on Wayfinder, it doesn't go directly to providers. It first enters Pending status while it's reviewed and processed. Here's what that means and what to expect.

What Pending Means

While an RFP is Pending, providers cannot see it and will not receive any notifications. No proposals can be submitted during this time.

What Happens Next

What happens during the Pending stage depends on your CMA's workflow:

  • Automatic processing — For most CMAs, Wayfinder runs a quick automated scan and summary, then moves the RFP to Open shortly after submission. This typically happens within minutes.

  • Manual review — Some CMAs require an admin to review and approve RFPs before they're distributed. In that case, a team member at your agency will approve the RFP before it moves to Open and providers are notified.

If you're unsure which workflow applies to your CMA, check with your supervisor or admin.

RFP Statuses at a Glance

  • Pending — Submitted; under review. Providers not yet notified.

  • Open — Approved; providers are being notified and can submit proposals.

  • Placed — A provider was selected. RFP is complete.

  • Closed — RFP ended without a placement.

  • Rejected — RFP was not approved. The rejection reason will be shown on the RFP.
