Can I Edit an RFP After It's Been Submitted?

RFPs can't be edited after submission. Here's why, and what to do instead if you need to make changes.

Updated today

Once an RFP has been submitted on Wayfinder, it cannot be directly edited. This is a known limitation that we're actively working to improve — editing RFPs is a feature we plan to support in the future.

Why Can't RFPs Be Edited?

When you submit an RFP, Wayfinder automatically notifies all providers in the community whose services and Medicaid waivers match the RFP's details. Allowing edits after the fact — especially once providers have started submitting proposals — creates a few problems:

  • Providers are notified based on the original RFP details. If the service type or waiver changes, providers who were initially a match may no longer be relevant, and new providers who should have been notified weren't.

  • Edits can invalidate existing proposals. If a provider submitted a proposal based on the original RFP, a change to key details (like service, location, or client needs) could make their response inaccurate or unfair.

What to Do Instead

For significant changes: Close the RFP and resubmit

If you need to make a meaningful change — such as updating the service type, Medicaid waiver, county, or client details — the best approach is to close the existing RFP and create a new one with the correct information.

To close the RFP, navigate to the RFP's overview page and fill out the Update Status form. Select Closed, then choose RFP Withdrawn.

Once closed, you can create a new RFP with the updated details.

For minor changes: Contact support

If you only need a small correction — like fixing a typo or removing a detail from a supplemental field — send us a message using the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Our team can make minor edits manually on your behalf.

📢 Manual edits are limited to minor corrections, such as spelling fixes or removing supplemental information. Changes to core fields like service type, waiver, or county will require the RFP to be closed and resubmitted.

Withdrawing an RFP Created in Error

If you submitted an RFP by mistake, you can withdraw it directly from the Wayfinder dashboard. On the RFP's overview page, open the Update Status form, select Closed, and choose RFP withdrawn from the dropdown. No need to contact support for this — you can handle it yourself in just a few clicks.
